The Subclass 189 Skilled Independent visa is a permanent residency visa which is granted without the requirement for an employer or family sponsor, or a state or territory nomination.
To be eligible to apply for this visa, a potential applicant must first submit an Expression of Interest, and meet a minimum points score. Invitations to apply for the subclass 189 visa are then offered to high ranking or high-quality expressions of interest.
Points are awarded based on (but not limited to) level of education and field of study, work experience, level of English, and age. There are also numerous other factors that can add to an accumulative points score.
To be considered for a Skilled Independent Visa, an expression of interest must include a nominated occupation from the Medium Long-Term Skilled Occupation List, and include a successful Skills Assessment for that occupation.
Global Community can assist clients through this process; from occupation list advice; assistance with preparation of Expression of Interest and Skills Assessment application, and accumulative points advice; to visa lodgement and support.
